Good Eats

(not to be confused with Alton Brown's show...which I really like by the way)

I have to say...today was a pretty excellent day of eats.

It started out with my typical oatmeal (unpictured)... I had my homemade cinnamon maple almond butter on it, as well as bananas and strawberries.

I then went for a 4 mile run for training...and listened to the Friday edition of the Lost Podcast with Jay and Jack. It was good to run outside again it's been almost a week with this weather!!!

After I tried this smoothie out- with a full frozen banana, 1 cup frozen mango, 1/2 cup plain greek yogurt, handful of kale, ice, and water/
Look at that color! (also, that picture looks weirdly 3D or something, no?)

It was so good too- very refreshing. But see that recipe up there? That was too much. I filled 2 cups that size up, and froze one for tomorrow. We'll see how that goes...I'm predicting more of a slushie than a smoothie? Sounds good too.

So then my mom and I went over to my aunt's house. She opened her pool for the summer today, so we all just hung out in the yard. Felt good to get some sun after all those cloudy days!

My aunt makes THE BEST "gravy" as we call it- or pasta sauce.
^^her pasta tops all others.^^

It's gotten to the point that I don't even ever want pasta anywhere but by her. It's TOO good.

^^I of course add some giardinere^^

We sat around and did...nothing...just talked, ate, laughed, and ate some more for about 4 hours while my little cousins ran around and rode bikes... It's so cute that a lot of the toys they play with were me and my other cousins' toys when we were little. Like, this bike below dates back probably 30 years...
^^Is that not the cutest picture?^^

My papa and cousins fixing the Radio Flyer bike.

Anyway, so when I got home my parents and I ordered Viccinos pizza. 1/2 eggplant, 1/2 veggie on whole wheat crust.
And my mom made a salad.

I topped it all with riccotta (riggot) and giardinara. Of course.
Viccinos is on the near top of my pizza list for sure!

And to finish off my day of fantastic eats, a McDonalds Vanilla Cone. Never disappoints.

(^^I did not take that picture...I thought that was obvious but my Dad asked me how I got that "cloudy white background" behind my ice cream cone...he said didn't see me take that picture!...Yeah, Dad, that's cause I didn't! Haha)

Alright, hope you all had a great weekend...! Adios :)

Oh yea, check postsecret!! Sunday yay!

  2. Dara, McDonalds cones ARE magical. And so inexpensive too! Yes, glad we look 8 years younger than we are so that McDonalds employees give us HS discounts. Oy.
