Hi everyone! I'm Jamie aka Jamela (a mix of my first and middle names, Jamie Angela), a 20-something year old living in Chicago. And Famela? Well, it just rhymes. And people used to say that when I was little. Anyway, welcome to my little nook on the big internet where I document my attempts to balance a fun, full, and overall healthy life.

I created this blog after reading countless incredible food blogs (see blogroll on right side). I love the creative ideas and the healthy meals everyone eats! Plus, I want to document my life moment my moment, kinda like a diary...cause we all know how fast time goes! The blog also serves as a good place to keep track of my workouts, and to organize my thoughts. Overall, this blog has somehow decreased the amount of stress in my life.

So, who am I? Besides my name and age? I'm a vetetarian who eats fish. I like to do any outdoorsy activity- hiking, biking, running, kayaking...I LOVE to cook and bake, I'm a determined world traveler, and most of all I'm a girl who is always trying to achieve balance, while having fun and lots of laughs along the way.

While I do love cooking, my form of "cooking" should be called "creating". I usually just pair fresh, delicious ingredients together to make well balanced meals. I try to mix it up to keep things interesting, using what's in season, and always keeping a budget in mind. I truly believe you can eat nutritiously and deliciously without spending too much money.

I want this blog to display a mix of everything I enjoy- from food to the great outdoors, fun and games to the working world. Getting to experience these things I enjoy is the only way I intend to live my life.

Achieving balance is key. It's not always easy, but I think it's always possible. Exercising, eating right, and having a positive outlook is what it's all about. These things we can control. If we can do these things, everything else seems just a bit more doable. So follow me as I attempt to practice what I preach. It'll be mostly a food blog- with some other things thrown in here and there. Browse and enjoy. Peace :)
